Roadmap Template in Braineet
The roadmap template builder is a roadmap tool for creating a roadmap and applying this roadmap to multiple projects as a template.
Thanks to the roadmap template, as a portfolio manager, you can capture date values from each roadmap and auto-fill custom fields of type Date.
In this documentation we assume that you already know how to use the roadmap builder and use it on a project.
💡 Currently on Braineet, you cannot have multiple roadmap template on 1 project.
Bind a custom field to the start and end dates of the task
On the roadmap template builder, you can collect dates in custom fields automatically. To enable this on tasks and sub-tasks, bind one custom field date to the start date and another to the end date.
When the template is applied to projects, if project members change the start or end date of a task, the system will automatically update the custom fields with the new start or end date.
To bind a custom field date to a task, click on the dots icon and then edit the task. From there, you can select which custom fields you want to bind.
Bind a custom field to the date of the milestone
On the roadmap template builder, you can collect dates in custom fields automatically. To enable this on milestone, bind one custom field date to the milestone.
When the template is applied to projects, if project members change the date of a milestone, the system will automatically update the custom field with the new date.
To bind a custom field date to a milestone, click on the dots icon and then edit the milestone. From there, you can select which custom field you want to bind.
Conditional tasks for only some projects
When you apply the roadmap builder, some projects may not need certain tasks or milestones. To address this, you can add criteria to display a task, a sub-task, or a milestone.
To define criteria, click on the dots icon and then edit the task or the milestone.
💡 If no criteria are added to a task or a milestone, the task will always appear on projects when you apply the template to projects.
Save the roadmap template modification
At any moment, you can save modifications to your roadmap template. These modifications will not be applied to the projects until you reapply the template on each project.
