Project Basics
What is a project?
A project in Braineet can be part of a portfolio or multiple portfolios following your portfolio configuration.
A project is composed with 3 tabs:
The important thing to understand is that a project is just a different way of looking at the same underlying data! This means that if you edit the data in a project, it will change that data for all portfolio views, since all views are looking at the same project.

Creating a new project
To create a new project, start by going to your portfolio then clicking on the “Create project” button to enter the title of project you'd like to create.
- Project name: it will be display as the project title everywhere.
- Project visibility: checkout the permission documentation.
- Process the project will be part of: you can bind the project to a defined process and choose the starting step.
- Summary (optionnal): field that you want to collect at the project creation. Learn how to define it on the Project Summary Template.
Deleting a project
To delete a project, click the ... project menu and then select Delete at the bottom of the dropdown menu that appears.
You can also bulk delete projects from the portfolio view.
Rename a project
To rename a project, you must have the Project Name field within your Summary tab as configured in the Project Summary Template.
Once you have the field, you can directly edit it from the Summary tab.
Assigning or Changing the Process on a Project
To assign or change a process to a project, you must have the Processes field within your Summary tab as configured in the Project Summary Template.
Once you have the field, you can directly edit it from the Summary tab.
Change if a project is public or private
To change the project visibility, click on the project menu (indicated with ...) and then toggle the "This project is public" option at the bottom of the dropdown menu that appears.
Reorder the tabs in your project
📢 To reorder tab, you need to have the right to administer platform, checkout the permission documentation.
To reorder the tabs (Summary, Workspace, and Roadmap), click on the settings button.
To reorder your tabs, navigate to Project customization. Then, mouse over to the left-hand side of the tab title you wish to move. Click and drag on the tab title to its new location.
Change the project status
To change the project status, follow these steps:
- Go to your project and click at the top right of your screen.
- Select the desired status for your project.
Alternatively, you can change the status directly from the custom field "Project Status" on your portfolio or summary page.
The following status options are available:
- Active: The project is active, and anyone with the appropriate permissions can make modifications to it.
- Completed: The project workspace is no longer editable, and the project status is set to finish.
- Pause: The project workspace is no longer editable, and the project status is set to pause.
- Stop: The project workspace is no longer editable, and the project status is set to stop. At any time, you can change the project status back to active.
FAQ
Why is a project not visible on my portfolio?
The project created on your portfolio view cannot be displayed because you activated a filter on it.
Another possibility is that your portfolio is configured with a filter and the project does not match the criteria. If this is the case, you can edit the criteria of your portfolio to adjust the filters.
Why am I not seeing a project under "My Project"?
A project is displayed under “My project” only if you are a member of it. To be a member, you can use the User field at the project creation.
Can I create a rule to define the project title based on field?
