Forms Overview

What is a Form ?

A form is a layout designed to collect data from individuals participating in your project.

Forms are primarily used in processes and project summary templates in Braineet. A form typically consists of three main components: a section with columns, fields for data input, and the ability to view and download descriptions/files.

Sections

A section is a group of elements, such as fields, description, files or media, that are related to each other. You can create a section to collect a set of fields that are attributes of the main entity around which the context revolves.

📌 For example, when creating a summary to collect general information about a project in your portfolio, a typical form may require a a section named "Overview" to collect and store data about the project. The fields that can be placed in the Overview section are Project titleTeamProject TypeDescription, and more.

Adding a section

To add a new section, click Add section.

You will get an empty section, like this:

📢 The section title is optional. If you choose to include one, a section with the specified title will appear, prompting the user to fill in their goals or a summary.

If you don’t add any title, the section won’t appear for the end users as a section.

Deleting a section

To delete a section, click the ... section menu and then select Delete at the bottom of the dropdown menu that appears.

Collapse or retract a section

To collapse a section, click the ... section menu and then toggle Retracted at the bottom of the dropdown menu that appears.

A section retracted will be collapsed on the place where you collect data.

💡 A section without any title can’t be retracted as it won’t appear as a section on the project goal or summary.

Activating 1 or 2 columns

You can choose between a 1 or 2 column format for each section. To do this, simply toggle the 2 columns button.

Fields

Fields are the building blocks of forms and the primary means through which you collect input from users.

The important thing to understand is that a field is just a different way of looking at the same underlying data! This means that if you edit the data in a project while in one view, it will change that data for all views, since all views are looking at the same project and fields.
