Sub-Projects Basics
Sub-projects in Braineet Workflow allow you to structure your projects more effectively by breaking them into smaller, manageable parts.
Creating a Sub-Project
To create a sub-project from a parent project in the portfolio view:
- Open the Portfolio View.
- Click the Quick Action button next to the desired project.
- Select Create a Sub-Project.
A modal will appear for you to fill in the sub-project details. Click Create to add it to your project hierarchy.
Viewing Sub-Projects in the Portfolio View
You can view sub-projects directly in the portfolio view to manage your work more effectively.
Use the Arrow Up and Arrow Down icons next to the parent project to expand or collapse its sub-projects.
This helps keep your workspace organized and focused on the tasks at hand.
Viewing Sub-Projects in the Roadmap View
Sub-projects are also visible in the Roadmap portfolio view for a visual representation of project timelines and dependencies.
You can perform all standard Gantt actions, such as adjusting timelines and setting dependencies, directly on sub-projects.
Sub-projects will appear at the same level as tasks but can be expanded to show their own tasks and subtasks.
Transforming a Project into a Sub-Project
You can also transform an existing project into a sub-project of another project from the portfolio view or using the bulk edit feature.
To transform a project into a sub-project:
- In the Portfolio View or Bulk Edit section, click on the dot menu next to the project you want to transform.
- Select Transform to Sub-Project.
- A dropdown menu will appear; choose the parent project you want this project to be a sub-project of.
What Happens Next:
- The selected project is transformed into a sub-project under the chosen parent project, allowing you to better organize your workflow.
Deleting Projects with Sub-Projects
When you delete a parent project, all associated sub-projects are also deleted.
⚠️Be sure to review all sub-projects before deleting the parent project to prevent accidental data loss.
Navigating Between Projects and Sub-Projects
Switching between parent projects and sub-projects is straightforward, allowing for quick and efficient management.
Use the navigation options within the project page or modal to move between different project levels.
Exporting Projects and Sub-Projects
Export your projects, including sub-projects, to Excel or via API Rest.
- Export Features: The exported data includes columns for Parent Project Title and Parent Project ID, making it easy to identify project hierarchies.
Editing Parent and Sub-Project Summary Templates
Customize summary templates for both parent and sub-projects according to your workflow needs.
Navigate to the summary template settings, make your changes, and save the updated template.
