Process builder in Braineet
The process builder is a whiteboarding for creating your process. A process is composed of steps that contain goals to achieve, and each goal is a form for collecting data on the project. The process can also contain gates which are validation points for your project.
In this documentation we assume that you already know how to create a process and use it on a project and how to create and edit a form.
💡 Currently on Braineet, you cannot have multiple steps in the process at the same time. To work around this, we advise you to use the Goals.
Add a Step
To add a step, mouse over to the left-hand side of the Step button. Click and drag the step to its location, then enter the step title directly on the right-hand panel that appears.
- Title: Title of the step.
- Maturity tag (optional): read more on Maturity Tags in Braineet.
- Description (optional): Description of the step. It will appear at the top level of the project step.
- Attachments (optional): files or medias of the step. It will appear at the top level of the project step.

- Description (optional): Description of the gate. It will appear at the top level of the project gate.

Reusing a Goal in multiple Steps
To reuse a goal, mouse over to the left-hand side of the goal of your choice. Click and drag the goal to the step of your choice.
Link Steps and Gates
To link steps and gates together, first focus on the step or gate. Then, mouse over to one of the four anchors (top, bottom, left, or right), click and drag the link to another step or gate.
⚠️ A step can only be linked to one step or gate in, and one step or gate out. It is not possible to have two steps at the same time. A gate can be linked to multiple steps.
Defining all paths can be helpful in guiding project members. For example, if you have this process:
On the project gate, if you choose to move forward, all paths will be available directly.
Remove a Step, a Gate or a Goal
To remove a step, gate, or goal, focus on it and then click on the Delete button.
Save the process modification
The builder automatically saves your modifications, similar to Google Drive. These modifications will not be applied to the projects until you choose to publish them.
Each save creates a version of the document, allowing you to rollback to a previous version if needed. For more information on the history and versioning of a process in Braineet, please read the documentation about process history.
Publish the process modification
To publish the modified process, click the "Publish" button. This will open a modal that allows you to choose whether or not to impact projects that are currently using this process.
You can choose whether or not to impact projects that are currently using this process. If you choose to impact the project, it means that any project using this process that has not modified the current step will receive your process modification.
If you choose not to impact the project, the process modification will not be applied until the project reaches the next Gate.
